Dyson Wins 'Best Use of Technology" at Prestigious Business Awards with Blackbay Service Connect

Dyson has won the "best use of technology" awards at the Sunday Times' Profit Track awards dinner. The company, placed at number 24 in the league of fastest growing UK companies, received the award thanks to its hugely successful implementation of mobile field service technology from Blackbay. The company has introduced Blackbay's Service Connect mobile solution across all of its 176 field service engineers and area managers.Dyson, renowned for its own technological innovation has applied this concept throughout the business, helping it to achieve the highest growth in profits in the table, growing at a staggering 73% a year over the past three years and now stands at £128 million.The Service Connect solution allows all of Dyson's engineers to work without any paper as all information is simply entered into their handheld devices and sent over the air. The electronic process not only saves paper, it dramatically increases their efficiency and practically eliminates errors when information is transferred.Malcolm Hird, Dyson's field service manager, said: "We needed a mobile solution that could eliminate paperwork and help our engineers work more effectively."The Service Connect system works on Microsoft Windows Mobile devices connected to the central office system. Engineers are able to see their schedules and details on each job wherever they are. Any changes made at the central office are instantly updated on the engineer's device. The device even has a scanner that logs the serial numbers of appliances and automatically orders the right part for the job - saving each engineer an hour a day.The Sunday Times Profit Track 100 is an annual search to identify Britain's fasted growing businesses. It ranks these companies by average profit growth over the last three years of available audited accounts.
