Sweet Stone Parad'Ice started in 2007 with the idea of introducing a
new type of waffles into the Singaporean market. These are called the
Liège waffles, they originated from the city of Liège, in eastern
Belgium. They are richer, denser, sweeter, and more chewy waffles.
Invented by the chef of the prince-bishop of Liège in the 18th century,
as an adaptation of brioche bread dough, they feature chunks of pearl
sugar, which caramelize on the outside of the waffle, when baked.
Once you bite into a Liège waffle, you will find that you get the
crunch and the sweetness of the waffle. It gives off an aromatic
buttery frangrance as it is being baked in the customized waffle iron
specially imported from Europe.
