Dr. Ho Su Chin Consultant Endocrinologist & Physician MBBS, MRCP (UK), M.Med (Int. Med.), FAMS (Endocrinology)
Dr. Ho Su Chin graduated from the National University of Singapore with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery and went on to complete her internal medicine training at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH). She obtained both her Masters of Medicine in Internal Medicine and membership of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom in the year 1995. She continued her advanced specialty training in the Department of Endocrinology, SGH and graduated as a fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (Chapter of Endocrinology). Dr. Ho has a keen interest in the subspecialty of Thyroidology. She received her HMDP award to train in molecular endocrinology at the Free University of Brussels, Belgium. She was one of the pioneering members of SingHealth Clinician Scientists to embark on the dual tracks of clinical care and medical research. During her research career, Dr. Ho successfully secured grants from funding agencies such as the National Medical Research Council and the Biomedical Research Council. The main focus of her interest centers on thyroid autoimmunity and she has published extensively in international peered review journals various aspects of autoimmune thyroid disease. Dr. Ho has extensive clinical experience treating all aspects of thyroid illnesses ranging from autoimmune thyroid diseases, thyroid dysfunction in pregnancy, nodular thyroid diseases and thyroid cancers. She is an active member of the SGH Thyroid Group, a multidisciplinary association of physicians with an interest in the care of patients with thyroid cancer. With the insight gained from her thyroid research and coupled with her empathy and understanding of patients, being a sufferer of autoimmune thyroid disease and gestational diabetes herself, she has helped many patients journeyed through their illnesses to recovery. In addition, Dr. Ho also manages other aspects of endocrinology such pituitary and adrenal disorders, osteoporosis, calcium disorders, dyslipidemia, obesity and diabetes mellitus. Indeed, her varied interests have helped her conduct and publish clinical studies in the field relating to lipid and weight issues. She is an advocate of healthy and active lifestyles and firmly believes in the benefits of regular exercise and prudent eating habits. She actively educates all her patients and shares with them tips on lifestyle modification. She believes that this is a vital tool to empower patients in improving their health.
