The centre was set up sometime in 1991. The old community centre located in the heart of the city was converted into a childcare centre to provide basic needs for children of working mothers in Chinatown area. It operated on a small scale and has gradually developed into what it is today.
In those days’ teachers were not trained and had no knowledge in childcare. Some of them were just housewives who used to work as nannies for few hours by taking care of the children to earn money during their free time.
The ‘Moral childcare Centre’ now caters to provide quality care in a warm and caring environment to children with both parents working in and around Bukit Batok.
The centre has gone through revolutionary changes to meet the high demand of parents who are now aware of the fact that children will develop to their fullest potentials if they are given education as early as possible, certainly before they enter primary school.
The staffs have formal education. Most of the staff possesses certificate in Pre-school teaching (CTP), certificate in Infants and Toddlers, diploma in teaching and leadership and some with degrees in early childhood.
We have been constantly reviewing the curriculum to meet the current and future changes to prepare the children for their new life in primary education. More field trips are organized for children to give them the learning experience.Emphases are given to learning through play and hygiene. The centre also encourages active parents’ participation.
